ORB offers a complete-solution real-time quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) service to examine gene and microRNA expression targets that are present in a wide variety of samples. Nucleic acid isolation is available for cellular, tissue, and numerous biofluid samples.  For example, protocols are optimized for whole blood, plasma, serum, saliva, bronchial lavage, and cerebrospinal, ascites and lymphatic fluids to support biomarker discovery from specimens collected using minimally invasive modalities. Additionally, group means and standard deviations are determined for each experimental target gene or microRNA and provided in graphical representations for the convenient evaluation of expression differences. ORB’s RT-qPCR assays can be designed to support global transcriptomic and metatranscriptomic profiling technologies such as the applications listed below. Targeted gene and microRNA expression examination using RT-qPCR assays can also be useful to follow-up exosomal and biofluid RNA characterizations in biomarker discovery or companion diagnostic driven programs. RT-qPCR assays can be performed under GLP compliance to support clients' preparation of patent or FDA regulatory applications.

ABI TaqMan Gene Expression Assays
TaqMan Gene Expression Assays were used as the gold standard in the validation of microarray data in the MicroArray Quality Control (MAQC) Project. (Nature Biotechnology, September 2006). Over 1.3 million pre-designed gene expression assays are available for 23 species. These assays are designed to run using the same PCR conditions which eliminates the need assay-specific primers and PCR conditions. TaqMan Gene Expression Assays have a high specificity & sensitivity and offer the largest dynamic range of any gene expression technology making them a preferred choice for validation of RNA sequencing and microarray data. ORB offers ABI TaqMan assay services including selection of probe sets, cDNA synthesis, real-time profiling and analysis using the powerful BioRad CFX384 Touch Real-Time PCR Detection System. ABI TaqMan MicroRNA Expression Assays
TaqMan® microRNA assays have a broad dynamic range (up to 9 logs) and provide highly sensitive quantification of mature microRNAs based on miRBase v.21. This method requires as little as 100 nanograms of total RNA or equivalent per microRNA and is available for species that are covered in the miRBase database, including human, mouse, rat, C. elegans, D. melanogaster, and A. thaliana. Over 2,500 ABI Taqman assays are available for human, 2,000 for mouse, and 850 for rat.

Qiagen RT2 Profiler PCR Arrays
PCR Arrays are reliable tools for analyzing the expression of a specific pathway or disease related genes. Stock pathway and disease focused arrays are available; alternatively, custom panels can be created based on a researcher's specific genes of interest. These arrays are available in 384-well format and include SYBR Green-optimized primer assays to amplify up to 380 different gene-specific products simultaneously under uniform cycling conditions. ORB offers PCR array services including cDNA synthesis and real-time profiling using the BioRad CFX384 Touch Real-Time PCR Detection System as well as data analysis.
